A pending status does not automatically mean there is a problem. Stores need time to confirm that an order was completed and was not returned, exchanged, canceled, or excluded from Cash Back.
What each status means
- Processing: Rakuten is waiting for the store to send the order details.
- Pending: The order was reported, but the confirmation period is still open.
- Confirmed: The Cash Back is part of your confirmed balance and can be included in the next eligible payment.
- Ineligible: The order did not qualify. Common reasons include a return, an excluded item, or a coupon that was not provided by Rakuten.
How long confirmation can take
Rakuten currently says pending Cash Back typically takes 3 to 17 weeks to confirm. Travel Cash Back usually confirms after the trip is completed and can take several weeks.
When payments are sent
Confirmed balances are paid every three months, with scheduled payment dates in February, May, August, and November. Rakuten currently requires at least $5.01 in confirmed earnings for a regular payment. Smaller balances carry forward.
What to check if nothing appears
Look at your Cash Back Activity and Shopping Trips, then compare the order with the store's exclusions. Keep the receipt and order number. If the order is missing after the store's normal posting period, use Rakuten's Missing Cash Back support form.
