How to activate Rakuten Cash Back

Rakuten can only track a purchase when Cash Back is active before you check out. You can start from the Rakuten website or app, or activate the offer through the Rakuten browser extension.

Before you start shopping

1. Sign in to the correct Rakuten account.
2. Check the store page for the current Cash Back rate and exclusions.
3. Select the store through Rakuten, then wait for the shopping trip confirmation.
4. Complete the purchase during that same shopping session.

If you use the browser extension

Rakuten says the extension icon turns blue when Cash Back is active. If you place a second order at the same store, activate Cash Back again before the new purchase.

Settings that can interrupt tracking

Ad blockers, content blockers, private browsing, a VPN, or another shopping rewards extension can interfere with tracking. Rakuten recommends disabling conflicting tools during the shopping trip and starting again from Rakuten if the activation is interrupted.

Keep a simple record

Save the order confirmation and note the date of purchase. If Cash Back does not appear, those details make it easier to use Rakuten's Missing Cash Back support process.
